Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of workload and job stress on work discipline, with work-life balance as a mediating variable, based on the Job Demands-Resources and Conservation of Resources theories. This quantitative study used a Likert scale questionnaire survey on retail employees in the Special Region of Yogyakarta with 135 respondents through purposive sampling, and the data were analyzed using PLS-SEM. The results show that workload and job stress have a significant negative effect on work discipline and work-life balance, while work-life balance positively affects work discipline and mediates the influence of both variables. Practically, companies are advised to adjust workloads and support work-life balance
